Lee Mortimer of Durham, North Carolina serves as board member of Guinnovation’s board of directors. Most of his career has been in writing and communications. His professional experience includes newspaper and broadcast journalism, when he covered a variety of local and state news issues. His experience includes advertising, technical writing and marketing communications in the telecommunications industry.
Lee has also pursued his civic and volunteer interests in the arena of social justice and political reform. He was a founding member of the Center for Voting and Democracy (now Fair Vote) in Takoma Park, Maryland, whose mission is promoting fairer elections in the United States. He served on a state legislative study commission that recommended changes to North Carolina’s election laws.
In semi-retirement, Lee completed a paralegal certification course, earned a notary public commission and worked part-time with a local attorney in Durham. He plans to utilize his research and interview skills in promoting and communicating the mission of Guinnovation to its supporters and contributors.
