“How you can make a difference”

It’s a joy to make a significant and tangible difference in someone’s life and this joy will last a lifetime. As a small but growing charity, the success of our mission depends on the active involvement of enthusiastic and passionate people like you. There are many ways you can help Guinnovation – telling your friends and family about us – setting up a fundraising event – getting involved on the ground. We have the perspectives, the experience and the knowledge to guide you through the complete volunteer process.

While social justice for all may seem like an unattainable ideal – all we can do is to carve out our piece – projects that will, when all connected, overcome many daunting social injustices that challenge the developing world. The Republic of Guinea, for example, has one of the highest death rates in the world due to lack of basic health care facilities and related infrastructures, including, but not limited to, electricity, water, proper sanitation, medical equipment, medication or qualified medical personnel. Fewer than 50% of the children in Guinea begin school at the required age, and among those only 20% finish primary school. Moreover, only 44% of girls complete primary school, especially in rural or underserved communities. The disparities between Conakry, the capital of Guinea, and the rural regions are particularly daunting.

While the primary school completion rate for girls in Conakry is 94%, in Nzérékoré, a rural region in the south of Guinea, it is only 26%. If schools are available to students in rural communities, they are often dilapidated and lack proper facilities. Guinnovation plans to work directly with the district health and education offices, as well as the local populations, to identify historically underserved locations that are in need of increased access to education and basic primary health care services. Guinnovation believes that both the satisfaction that comes from helping others and the related impact on the community increase as people are empowered with knowledge and resources to build their own community.

We are on the lookout for people with specific skills to help us out. That is if you can spare some time, share your expertise and skills, or further our strategic or operational planning process.

The education and health resources Guinnovation provides to the underserved communities we sponsor will be made possible by a vast array of fundraising activities organized by inspirational people like you with exciting fundraising ideas, with the understanding that 100% of the funds you collect for this all-volunteer organization will be invested in the projects we vow to undertake. There is always something you can do to raise awareness and funds for Guinnovation. You can help us by getting your community involved or organizing your own event.

Corporate partnership
Many American corporations demonstrate a high level of social responsibility by funding needed projects in their host communities – Guinnovation will seek to expand this vision by designing international partnerships. If a corporation is supporting a local school – we will seek to develop a sister school relationship with an underserved school in Guinea – or a maternal health clinic/center – or a hospital. We will also seek to develop and nurture ongoing relationships between the “sister” institutions.
