A lifelong Minnesotan and current resident of Mendota Heights, Peg Riehm was introduced to Guinnovation by former board chair Colleen Striegel, a close friend and former coworker of Peg’s late sister, Julie Toner. Julie’s deep connection to Africa—shaped by her Peace Corps service in Kenya and her work with the American Refugee Committee (now Alight)—inspired Peg’s commitment to supporting children in Guinea, West Africa through Guinnovation’s mission.
Peg brings more than 40 years of experience in business administration, public administration, and accounting to her role as Guinnovation’s treasurer and board member. She holds a business administration degree from the University of St. Thomas and has worked in student financial aid management, law firm and construction accounting, business planning, and church financial administration. Her expertise includes payroll, accounts payable and receivable, billing, reconciliations, audit preparation, budgeting, and financial reporting. Although formally retired since 2019, she continues to manage several small business accounts.
Peg has volunteered for various cancer-related fundraising organizations and previously chaired the finance and long-range planning committees while serving on the board of St. Joseph’s School in West St. Paul. After meeting Guinnovation founder Oury Diallo and hearing his remarkable life story, Peg felt compelled to contribute her financial and administrative expertise to advance the organization’s work and honor her sister’s enduring love for Africa.
