Sabaty Project: Better Schools, Better Opportunities for Children in Guinea

Guinnovation is honored to receive a SABATY Project Grant to support education in rural Guinea. Funded by the French Development Agency, technical partners, Guinea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Directorate of Guineans Living Abroad, the grant was awarded on June 23 and signed on September 2. Over the next year, the funding will support hybrid learning in four rural schools: Labé Centre and Diari in Labé Prefecture, and Kankalabé and Koba in Dalaba Prefecture.

Why This Project Matters

Many rural schools in Guinea face barriers that limit student success, including limited access to teacher training, insufficient educational resources, few digital learning opportunities, and challenges in improving learning outcomes. The Sabaty Project responds to these needs by helping schools create more engaging, effective, and supportive learning environments for children.

What the Project Will Do

The project will introduce hybrid learning support through practical teacher training, classroom coaching, structured English learning, educational technology, and offline digital resources that can be used where internet access is limited. These activities are designed to strengthen classroom instruction and expand learning opportunities for students.

Who Will Benefit

The program will prioritize elementary students while also benefiting teachers, education staff, vulnerable youth, school leaders, parents, and local education communities. Students will have opportunities to participate more actively in class, learn through modern methods, access digital content, strengthen problem-solving and critical thinking skills, and improve their English language skills. Teachers will receive practical training, classroom coaching, opportunities to exchange ideas with other educators, and support for English instruction.

Partnership and Community Leadership

This partnership reflects diaspora leadership and community collaboration to expand education and opportunity in Guinea. Guinnovation and Jeune Espoir will work with local communities and schools to support implementation, strengthen teacher support, and help sustain improvements beyond the project period.

Funding and Support

The grant totals 71,429 €—approximately $80,950—with 50,000 €—approximately $56,680—from SABATY and 21,429 €—approximately $24,270—co-financed by Guinnovation’s diaspora, Jeune Espoir, and local communities. Guinnovation must raise a $30,000 match, reflecting a 70%/30% funding split. Every contribution helps provide books, supplies, teacher support, learning tools, and opportunity to children who deserve an uninterrupted path to education.

Our Goal

Our goal is to improve the quality of education so that children can learn in a more engaging, effective, and supportive environment. Together with our partners and local communities, Guinnovation aims to help build better teachers, stronger schools, greater opportunities for young people, and stronger communities.
